Full disclosure. I don’t eat eggs, deviled or otherwise. I used to. Then, a few years ago, I cracked one to make some scrambled eggs, and the monster from Stranger Things came out. I barely escaped with my life, and now I’m scared to have eggs in the house. What if it comes back to finish the job?
But, I know folks love a deviled egg. So, go off! Enjoy your eggs. If you are an egg person, you likely already have a staple deviled egg recipe you turn to. But maybe the paprika just isn’t doing it for you anymore. Try these variations to tszuj* up your deviled egg game:
- Use avocado as your creamy base for a bit of color and all the omega-3s you could ever need.
- Spice it up with jalapeno and cream cheese.
- Make is classy by adding smoked salmon. Smoked salmon = fancy. Everyone knows that. Feel free to sprinkle it on top of an original deviled egg, or with cream cheese for lox and bagels feel without the bread.
- My personal favorite – use hummus for your creamy base. It’s really tasty and you can easily add some diced-up veggies.
*Tszuj is a word coined by Ralph Lauren and made famous by Carson Kressley. It essentially means to give it some flare, and make it interesting. And it’s very fun to say.
