Love baking bread but always end up with more than you can eat before it goes stale? No worries! Turn that stale bread into homemade salad croutons. You can use any bread you have on hand, mix it up and get fancy with a variety of breads. Just make sure it’s not fresh.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 minced garlic clove
1 cup of cubed day-old bread
A pinch of onion salt
And here’s how to make it:
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
Pour the olive oil into an 8-inch baking pan. Add the minced garlic and bake for a few minutes until it’s lightly browned.
Add the cubed bread to the pan and stir to coat it in the garlic-infused oil.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, making sure to stir the croutons frequently. They should be lightly browned and crispy.
Allow the croutons to cool and then store them in an airtight container for future use.
Now you can elevate your salads with these homemade, flavorful croutons made from leftover bread. Enjoy!
